Shoulders of these dogs are sloping and laid back, chest is moderately broad to allow the dog into the narrow foxhole. Legs of these dogs are rather long and refined, with oval feet and hard nails. Tail of these dogs is preferred docked.

Dogs of this breed are very strong and compact, but without appearing too muscle bound. They are adapted to hunting and killing rats, so their neck and jaws are very strong, the cheek muscles are well-defined and the teeth are very sharp and strong. Most rat terrier information will include training, care and rescue information.
